His Honour Justice Emmanuel Appiah-Twumasi of the Tamale Circuit Court has ordered the arrest of the father of the third victim (name withheld) in an alleged defilement case before the court.
The case, “defilement of three females”, between the Republic and Mahama Issahaku, 63 was called today July 2 for its first hearing at the Gender Based Violence Court of the Tamale Circuit Court presided over by His Honour Justice Emmanuel Appiah-Twumasi.
On June 22, complainant (name withheld) and resident of Tamale reported to the office of the Northern Region Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit (DOVVSU) of alleged defilement of his two nieces, all residents of Tamale.
The third complainant, father of the third victim (name withheld) however withdrew his complaint opting for home settlement.
But upon calling the case in court today July 2 and noticing the absence of the third complainant and victim, His Honour Justice Emmanuel Appiah-Twumasi ordered that the complainant be arrested and held in custody until the next court hearing date.
The accused was charged on two counts of defilement but pleaded not guilty to all two.
“Counsel of the accused prayed the court for bail, same granted with three sureties one of which shall be a government worker earning not less than ghc3000 and the other two in Tamale”, a police report said.
Menawhile, the case has been adjourned to July 20 2020.
