Information reaching ZAMI Reports indicates the Sagnarigu-Kukuo and Nyohni dams in the Sagnarigu Municipality have overflown their banks following heavy downpour in parts of the Northern region.
The Gumani and Gumbihini bridges have also been overtaken by flood water causing heavy vehicular traffic on the Tamale-Bolgatanga and the Tamale-Kumbungu highways.
Distress calls from residents in Sawaba, Sagnarigu, and Gumbihini reveal property have been swept away with homes submerged.
While Samuel Adjei, a resident of Sagnarigu-Kukuo reveal “people are stranded at the banks of the main bridge in Sagnarigu”, Fire woman Abiba Imoro, a resident of Sawaba was woken up from bed by a gushing water.
“I was asleep and suddenly found water in h room”, Madam Abiba Imoro told ZAMI Reports.
“Our bridge is taken by water and if the rain continues, our homes will also be filed with water”, Afa Adam said.
Commuters are advised to use alternative routes to avoid any unforeseen casualties.
