Ghana’s Electoral Commission (EC) has charged the “peddlers of fabrications” about obsolete devices found at centres of the ongoing mass voters registration to name the centres where the old kits are being used.
In a statement issued on July 16, the Commission stated “all kits currently in use are brand new” thereby debunking claims that about 40% of the Biometric Voters Registration Kits currently being used in the exercise were old ones.
“One would have thought that the individuals making the assertions would have indicated in the report where they saw the old kits being used”, the statement said.
The Commission has therefore urged Ghanaians to disregard such claims by treating them with the contempt they deserve.
