The Vice President of Ghana His Excellency Dr Mahamadou Bawumia has arrived in the Northern regional capital Tamale en route the West Mamprusi Municipality of the Northeast region.
His visit comes at the back of what has been termed unprecedented floods ever recorded in the region. Dr Mahamadou Bawumia is expected to visit holding centres designated for victims of Thursday October 1, flooding that swept through parts of the Northeast region after two dams gave in.
A three years old boy was reported dead in the Gbani community with at least 1,000 persons forced out of their homes.
“He fell into a bridge which had water rushing at the time”, an official from the Nortjeast region office of the National Disaster Management Organization.
Four communites were washed away while the bridge linking Dimia and Tinkaya communities.
