ZAMI Reports has gathered that the chief of Kafaba, Seidu Yahaya and two others including the Assembly man for the area have been invited by the Salaga Divisional Police Command in the Savanah region to assist in investigations.
Confirming the invitation, the Savannah Regional Police Command revealed the three are expected to report to the Police on Monday July 27.
Many, including Civil Society Organizations have called for the arrest of anyone involved in the lynching of a ninety (90) years woman after videos of her attack went viral Thursday July 23.
Akua Denteh, was lynched by some residents of the Kafaba community after she was branded a witch by a soothsayer whose name has been given only as Filina, an act that has witnessed nationwide condemnation.
The self-styled soothsayer according to our sources was invited to the community to exorcise witchcraft from the deceased who had been accused of “limiting the progress of the community spiritually”.
Filina is alleged to have fronted an attack on the deceased after she denied the allegations leveled against her. It is however unclear who invited her for the rite of exorcism.
ZAMI Reports has also gathered the soothsayer before arriving in Kafaba had visited the Yaala, Champman, and Gongo communities where she performed similar rites and even banished some alleged witches.
Meanwhile, the Public Relations Officer of the Gonjaland Youth Association Borejinkpr Mufti Habibu Muftawu has revealed Kafaba appeared abandoned Saturday July 25.
“The community was very quiet when we visited, it appears people after getting hint of possible arrest have run away”.
Borejinkpr Mufti Habibu Muftawu was among the leadership of the Gonjaland Youth Association (GLYA) who visited the community on a fact finding mission.
In a statement signed by the PRO, the National President of GLYA, Lawyer Mohammed Amin Osman revealed the act is alien to Gonjaland.
“We as an association condemn this act to the highest level because not only is it against the laws of the country, it is also alien to us Gonjas”
He urged the people of Kafaba to cooperate with the Police in their investigations.
The late Akua Denteh was buried on Saturday July 25 in the East Gonja Municipal capital Salaga according to Islamic religion.
