The working committee responsible for drafting the manifesto of the largest opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) going into this year’s presidential and parliamentary elections has today July 1, presented it final work to H.E John Dramani Mahama, leader and presidential candidate of the party.
The former president and presidential candidate took to his official Facebook page to announce “the people’s manifesto” indicating it “will represent the NDC and my social contract with the people of Ghana”.
Chaired by a former Minister of Health under the Atta Mills – led administration, Professor Kwaku Danso-Boafo, the committee which has presented its work today was tasked to tour all 16 regions of the country to seek the concerns and priorities of Ghanaian citizens to be inputted in the manifesto for possible implementation if the party recapture power come December 7,2020 general elections.
After about 8 months of work, the committee drafted and presented the policy document which the presidential candidate hinted a “policy dialogue series” will be organized to extensively share details of ” the various sectors and themes of the manifesto”
Besides claims by the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) that the NDC does not have a message for the people of Ghana prior to today’s presentation, the NDC is yet critised for not appointing and outdooring its running mate to the presidential candidate as it is barely 6 months to elections.
However, the NDC has maintained that it is a convention that opposition parties in this country over years appoints and outdoors their running mates in August in the year of elections with few exceptions.
