Latifah in an interview with journalists after her arrest claimed she was “possessed and did not realize she was torturing her grandmother”.
One of the suspects in the torture of late Akua Denteh, 90, in Kafaba in the East Gonja Municipality of the Savannah region Latifah Bumaye, 33, has been arraigned to appear before the Bole Magistrate Court on Monday August 3.
“Preliminary charge against her is murder”, the Savannah Regional Police Commander DCOP Enoch Adutwum Bediako told ZAMI Reports.
Latifah, was arrested in the evening of Thursday July 30 by a two man police team from the Salaga Divisional Police Headquarters at her hideout in Kejewu Bator in the Abrumase division in East Gonja but was escorted to the divisional headquarters on Friday July 31.
The Salaga Divisional Police Commander C/Sup Amos Yelisong said the suspect was transferred to the regional headquarters same day.
“We transferred her to the regional headquarters for further investigations”.
Late Akua Denteh, in a viral video is seen being attacked by some women believed to be residents of Kafaba after a self-styled soothsayer Filina branded her a witch.
Suspect Latifah Bumaye who is the grand daughter of the deceased is captured in another video whipping the victim while the soothsayer, Filina hit her with an object.
